On your blog, please report on your negotiation for the Live8 exercise by responding to the following:
(1) By what medium did you negotiate? Why that? Convenience? Was it a tactical decision of some kind? We decided to negotiate on snapchat. With both of us being international, I figured this would be an easy way to do this and also a free way.
(2) Please provide a SHORT narrative of how the negotiation went. We started with simple low offers, I was getting a guage of how badly she wanted it and what prices she was offering. I was not overly willing to sell as i did not need to, so i kept rejecting and not actually giving a price until the offers were higher. finally, i told her my minimum price and i managed to get her up to that and we got. a win win in the end of 75000
(3) How did your choice of medium--compared to face-to-face--help or hinder reaching an agreement in this negotiation? Perhaps it hurt in some ways and helped in others? i think it being snapchat made it feel less serious and not as if we were properly negotiating something compared to face to face, or even email, however, it helped with the time of it.
(4) How do you think the negotiation might have gone differently had you negotiated face-to-face/in-person? i think it would have taken a bit longer and also felt more serious overall. I do think i could have maybe got more or actually have just walked away compeltly had it been in person.
(5) Finally, let's suppose you were to negotiate something like the Live8 negotiation in real life (with some other person), what would be your communication medium of choice? Please explain. my choice would be face to face as i feel this is the best way to sort anyway out. especially in big deals that are critical to the futures of both parties, i feel as if they need to be face to face. I f distance does not allow you to do so, like in this sceniaro, i would say zoom would be the second best option as you still get a personal touch and can feel the emotion of a negotiaiton on such a serious matter for two businesses.
