If you didn't complete the readings before class, do so now, and play a game of What If?--consider what might have happened if you had used a particular tactic.
So, what I would do next time is use the bland withdrawal tactic. I know full well, i show too much emotion and am reasonably easy to read when it comes to negotiations. This tactic will flip that on its head and change my whole dynamic. Being neutral is essential, it will create uncertainty with the other person which can lead to better offers. It will confuse the other person and they will try and keep me engaged due to the lack of emotion. Staying neutral, not getting too high, not getting too low will also help me maintain control. I want to be in control of the negotiation to get the best deal for me, and this stems from being in control.
I feel like had i used this tactic, I would have got a better outcome in the first negotiation as i feel like i cracked quite early.
